No idea why I decided to watch this so late. It took me by surprise. Caddo Lake, produced by Night Shyamalan and directed by Celine Held and Logan George, is really something. The story moves at a very smooth, almost eerie pace, trying to give that horror vibe here and there without ever fully turning into one. But halfway through, when things start to unravel and all the little details start connecting, I started enjoying it even more.
It’s not the loud, jump scare horror you might expect seeing Shyamalan’s name attached. It’s more quiet, creeping kind of unsettling, the type where the setting itself does most of the heavy lifting. And honestly, the way they shot the lake scenes? Looked stunning but at the same time made you feel this weird sense of dread. You can tell the cinematography really leaned into that whole “nature hiding something” theme. Plus, the whole story about missing kids and how memories get twisted over time, it hits a lot harder than you’d think at first. Jena Malone was great too, she really carried those emotional scenes without going overboard. Although it doesn’t explain the reasons was to why it’s happening and what caused such anomaly to occur in the first place but at this point i doubt most of his movies give that clarity.
This one isn’t gonna be for everyone it’s slow, it asks you to be patient but if you like that kind of slow burn mystery where the unease just keeps building, it’s a solid watch.
