Undercover High school

Alright so… undercover agent disguised as a high school teacher? Yeah, I know it sounds like a straight up gag setup but Undercover High School actually does something kinda interesting with it. The show doesn’t even wait to warm up, it just throws you right in. Boom. Former top NIS agent Jung Hae Seong gets demoted, and next thing you know he’s blending into a bunch of kids with hormones and secrets, all while chasing some lost royal treasure. Like… what?

I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much. The plot? Absolutely on the nose. Guy in suit forced to be a student with high schoolers while keeping an ear to the underground gold hunting world. But it works somehow. Seo Kang Joon carries the lead really well, he’s dead serious but also constantly reacting to the chaos around him. The way he switches between intense agent mode and awkward teacher moments is half the fun.

And yeah, there’s some comedy. But it’s not just a silly setup. The tone shifts when it needs to, there’s real tension, some decent fight choreography, and moments where you kinda feel bad for this dude who’s just trying to fix his life while surrounded by teenage drama. The school itself almost feels like another character with so many layers, side plots, and weird dynamics. You never know what’s next.

If anything, I just wish they leaned a bit harder into the absurdity or went deeper into the espionage. Right now it’s balancing both and not fully committing to either. But hey, for what it is? It’s fun. Chaotic, dumb fun with just enough edge to keep watching. And if you’re watching just for the aesthetic then yeah, it looks clean. Cinematography’s slick, nothing groundbreaking, but polished enough.

Not gonna lie, didn’t expect to finish the whole thing, but here I am one season after.
